A pachyderm of palmary prominence, Vicki was an adventurous Indian elephant who gained international notoriety in September of 1955 for her 9-day frolic in Charlotte, NC. She escaped from the Airport Amusement Park on Sept. 11th, and was sighted in downtown Charlotte, in neighborhoods, at a truck stop, and even quite close to the Charlotte airport. As the Charlotte Elephant became the butt of national jokes, her handlers desperately tried every trick they could contrive to bring her home. Pit traps were dug, male elephants were introduced to see if she was in the mood, molasses and hay were laid in paths to lure her back. After a nationally known elephant trainer was flown in, Vicki was finally herded into a large field where she relaxed and allowed her handlers to lead her home on Sept. 20th. Two years later, she was relocated to Granada Farms Zoo in Granite Falls, NC, where she sadly deceased at a young age. In 1973, the zoo was redeveloped into a golf course, where Vicki still rests under the No. 3 fairway.

With our peanut butter amber ale, we pay homage to this roaming free spirit and toast to the adventurer in each of us. With a nutty and toasty malt profile and huge peanut butter flavor, this amber ale is an imminently quaffable tribute to the legendary Vicki.
